This map shows where the world war two bombs landed in redbridge.
This is a scanned image of an old local news paper printed during or shortly after the war which shows where they landed in Redbridge.
It also shows what type of bomb was used and where the aircraft crashed.
We are constantly seeing evidence of this whilst working in redbridge.
we will often see where the buildings drains have been altered to accomodate the new buildings footprint. It seems houses were sometimes replaced with bungalows. Some people still have underground bunkers in their back gardens. Prisoners of war were made to help re-build the houses, A lot of pre-fab houses were used to speed up the building process.
The image below was photo copied in 4 parts and joined together, missing parts were coloured in and some of the print has been digitally replaced.
Some parts are hard to make out as a result of this.

Some more interesting history kindly supplied by Jerry O......
Apparently during the war 2 a group of roofers would make V for Victory signs on the roofs that they were repairing around the redbridge area...and possibly other areas. The idea was to capture the attention of the fighter pilots to boost morale.
Some examples of this can be seen in these images.....
This one was taken somewhere in Clayhall...it looks like an attempt at a word on the right hand side, not sure what this is but you can clearly see the V on the left and the dots and dashes that represent morse code for victory.
Another good example can be seen here at the Cricketers pub in woodford green.
This one very clear for all to see.
Here you can see the V plus the morse code sign with 3 dots and a dash as can be seen on the poster on the right
On this one the pattern on the right is a soldier saluting with the classic V and morse code to the left. Could the shape above the V represent a gun?
Another one here at a different angle.
If you know of a building that has these marking on I'd be very happy if you could email images of them over to me at admin@bbsbuilding.com.
Many thanks to Jerry O for supplying this info and most of the images
